ICIF MANIFESTO 2012

In this times of uncertainty, of transition to some unpredictable and unknown future, we met May 14th 2012 with Fumihiko Maki, a leading personage of Metabolism, a visionary and prophetos movement, the last  20th century avant guarde. We put the distinguished architect a question on what would be his message to the young architects generation today…

My message… Once we had the feeling we are all on one big boat sailing to some common future. Now we are all separated in many single vessels floating chaotically in the open seas… — said the master.  So today I don’t think I have any message which I can deliver to the young architects and that can fit all of them. Therefore, you may tell your nominees my message to them would be pure silence…

We took this reaction seriously as reflecting the old far East tradition of thought, and we are delivering here this silent manifesto from Mr Maki, further on, to all young architects, who take part in the  Iakov Chernikhov International Prize contest 2012.
